We will be joined by Nikki Van Wagner (she/her), a Sexual Violence Prevention Program Consultant with OSPI and Ann Richey (she/her), a graduate research assistant in the Department of Epidemiology at the University of Washington. They will share information about youth-centered and community-oriented strategies to prevent sexual violence among adolescent students. The Youth-centered Environmental Shift (YES!) Program shares recent research and lessons learned in Washington middle schools to enhance school-based primary prevention that creates protective environments, builds positive social norms and youth-adult partnerships, and centers LGBTQ+ students’ experiences and needs, in order to reduce rates of youth sexual violence victimization and perpetration.
