Webinar: What Do Individuals with Lived Experience Want Therapists to Know

Overview: This webinar explores the importance of trauma-informed care in mental health services for youth and caregivers impacted by human trafficking and/or commercial sexual exploitation from the perspective of four cross-discipline professionals with lived experience. The presenters will discuss SAMHSA’s six principles of a Trauma-informed Approach (Safety; Trustworthiness and Transparency; Peer support; Collaboration and Mutuality; Empowerment, Voice, and Choice; Cultural, Historical, & Gender Issues), describe negative impacts and barriers to intervention when these principles are not implemented, and share recommendations for therapists based on each principle. The webinar is free of charge and open to anyone interested in learning about the issue.
