FROM TRAUMA-INFORMED CARE TO VIOLENCE-INFORMED CARE

Registration is now open for the live webinar "From Trauma-Informed Care to Violence-Informed Care". This 1.5-hour session is designed for professionals in the anti-trafficking field who wish to embed trauma-informed care within their services. Attendees will learn about the intersections of trauma and violence and how they relate to mental and physical health. They will learn new ways to implement violence-informed and trauma-informed care principles through organizational culture, and policy & procedures. Additionally, attendees will receive resources and practical applications for their personal and professional use.

Katie Papke (she/her) is a human trafficking survivor leader and a proud member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. She is a Licensed Master Social Worker, Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor, and a Clinically Certified Human Trafficking Victims Services Provider. She has a passion for working with victims and survivors of human trafficking, intimate partner violence, and other forms of abuse. Her specialty is working with teens and adults with a history of trauma, eating disorders, substance abuse, sexual exploitation, and human trafficking. She is a School of Social Work Program Associate Professor at Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids, Michigan, teaching classes on human trafficking and homelessness. She is a national Health, Education, Advocacy, and Linkage (HEAL) Trafficking speaker.
Katie was recently awarded the “40 under 40 Boston Congress of Public Health Catalyst Award” for her achievement in shaping human trafficking as a public health concern.
