Tribal Community Celebration

This is an invitation to join community in honoring the tribal policy work done in Washington in the 2023 legislative session. Over the past several months, teams have worked tirelessly to advocate for the needs of tribes and urban Indigenous communities. Together WA successfully passed several pieces of legislation including:

  • Establishing the first Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and People Cold Case Unit in a State Attorney General’s Office;

  • Establishing a tribal advisory board to conduct a study on the history and impacts of boarding schools in Washington State;

  • Creating a missing person’s toolkit, with special provisions regarding Indigenous communities;

  • Successfully extending the work of the MMIWP Task Force through June 2025.

Join to hear from Attorney General Bob Ferguson, members of the MMIWP Task Force Executive Committee, and others about this exciting work and what it means for Washington and beyond.
