The music world has been brought to a near-standstill by COVID’s health, economic, and cultural impacts, as artists are unable to perform live to support themselves. With generous support from our partners at the Strategic Alliance to Fight Exploitation in Washington State (SAFE), Seattle Against Slavery is investing in artists to perform, recognizing that small nonprofits and emergent musical artists have a shared stake in their local communities, and are natural allies. “We wanted to create a synergy that supports some of these artists we love and pull in members of our community who might not be aware of the work organizations like SAS are doing.” Both SAS and the performers are getting a chance to share their work with new audiences and affirm the value of supporting each other through these challenging times. “Whatever we are facing, we are stronger together.”
