Responding to Sex Trafficking of Youth: Advanced Skills for Service Providers

Description: This training is for service providers who have foundational knowledge about sex trafficking and are ready for a deeper dive into skills and practices.  This training combines three topic areas: Trauma-informed Practice, Stages of Change, and Safety Planning in an Advanced Skills Lab to explore specific strategies for working with young people who have experienced sexual exploitation and trafficking.

Learning Objectives: 

·         Learn the Integrative Trauma Definition and components of trauma-informed practice.

·         Explore the Stages of Change: behavior change theory, model, and application; and learn how to shape service responses to each Stage of Change.

·         Examine different types of safety, and contexts for what makes people feel safe.

·         Practice skills to build safety into relationships and learn concrete strategies for creating and supporting implementation of safety plans.
