We are thrilled to announce our Keynote Speaker, Sexual Violence Prevention Trainer, Youth Speakers and JFG Youth Emcees for our event Beyond Pink: Preventing Violence Against Girls*, hosted by the Justice for Girls Coalition of Washington State on Wednesday, November 18th!

This digital event is FREE to attend and we strongly encourage all advocates to join! Please let us know if there are any attendance barriers we can address.

Keynote Speaker: Cherice Hopkins

Cherice Hopkins (she/her) is an attorney at Rights4Girls, a human rights organization committed to ending gender-based violence in the U.S., where she engages in advocacy to enhance the safety and well-being of young women and girls who have been pushed to the margins of our society particularly young women and girls of color—and improve responses to those who have experienced violence. Her work includes policy reform, public education and awareness, training and technical assistance, research, and coalition building. Cherice is the co-author of three innovative reports: Girls and Gender-Expansive Youth and COVID-19, Survivor Protection: Reducing the Risk of Trauma to Child Sex Trafficking Victims, and Beyond the Walls: A Look at Girls in D.C.’s Juvenile Justice System.

Cherice is also a member of the faculty of the National Judicial Institute on Domestic Child Sex Trafficking, and she co-manages the Girls at the Margin National Alliance. Her prior experience includes the provision of consultation services to nonprofits and small businesses, founded by women and people of color, in the areas of analysis, research and strategic planning. Prior to her work with Rights4Girls, Cherice practiced employment law at Target and Foley & Lardner LLP where her practice included advising employers on the equitable treatment of employees and maintaining harassment-free workplaces. Cherice received an MBA from Columbia College, a J.D. from Northwestern Pritzker School of Law and is a member of the Wisconsin State Bar.

Sexual Violence Prevention Trainer: Andrea Wessel

Andrea Wessel (she/her) is a Sexual Health Education Program Specialist at OSPI. Andrea coordinates the School Health Profiles Survey and manages the implementation of Erin’s Law.
