HOLDING THE FRAMEWORK: WORKING WITH SURVIVORS OF MULTI-ABUSE TRAUMA

  • 2100 Building - Board Room 2100 24th Avenue South Seattle, WA, 98144 United States (map)

There are few things more polarizing in social services than what to do when someone you’re working with also has lived experience with mental health, or substance use. Survivors of multi-abuse trauma are often interacting with multiple fields, who all have their own distinct ways of providing services. It can be confusing, frustrating, and discouraging to hear these different messages, often in direct opposition to each other, about the best ways to heal and move forward. This training will discuss the connections between gender-based violence, mental health and substance use, how we can better work together to support survivors of multi-abuse trauma, and how vicarious trauma moves us away from connection.
